Piers Morgan invites ‘Machine Gun Preacher’ star to White House Correspondents Dinner

This is why Gerry got invited to the White House. Read what Piers Morgan said about MGP. It reflects my own opinion about that movie which was one of the best I've seen.



On Twitter moments ago, CNN's Piers Morgan announced that actor Gerard Butler would join him as a guest for the White House Correspondents Dinner.

Butler is the star of the 2011 action film 'Machine Gun Preacher,' which features a drug dealing biker character that finds God and goes to Africa to do missionary work. After African war lords attack his camp, the character turns to automatic rifles such as an AK-47 to defeat them.

"This is serious, intense. It's visceral, it's raw, it's everything you would want in a powerful movie," Morgan said, during a 2011 interview with Butler about the film. "It's a remarkably powerful and important film. I hope everyone goes to see it, because it really does telling an extraordinary story."

The film is rated 'R' and has a 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

It has a 29% RT score because very few people were given the opportunity to see it. It was marketed wrong (and poorly) and abandoned by its distributor. Of those that have seen it, I'd go out on a limb to say that the majority would have many positive things to say about it. I'm not a Piers Morgan fan but his description was on the mark. Machine Gun Preacher is by turns harrowing, moving and emotionally uplifting and Butler gives a career defining performance.

I concur. Relativity Media did absolutely nothing to promote Machine Gun Preacher in the U.S. The only promotion stateside came from the extensive touring done by Mr. Butler, Ms. Monaghan, and Sam Childers himself & helped along by word of mouth from Mr. Butler's extensive fan base.

ах вот оно что, а я думала из-за "олимпа" его туда пригласили... ничего себе, фильм заметили на высшем уровне, это лучшее признание для Джерри, значит все правильно сделал

раз мы сегодня смотрим "Проповедника..." (СТС, по Украине в 23.35) - захотелось вспомнить

тем более ролик свежезалитый, может с таких точек мы этого и не видели
